Let's Be Antifragile

*The devil is going to do everything he can to stop our hopes for the best and start our expectations for the worst. And little by little we move out of faith and into fear.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7:24-27

*If you’re fragile and life hits you hard you break. If you’re resilient and life hits you hard, you withstand more and will eventually break. If you are antifragile, you will grow stronger. Being antifragile means that when life hits you hard you actually get stronger.

*A wind extinguishes a candle but fuels a fire.

During times of uncertainty we can remain steadfast, building our house, our foundation, on the rock that won’t move. We can have a total peace, even in the midst of uncertainty, that only comes from God.

Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

How to Establish A Strong Foundation:

1. Buddy System:

a. God wants your life to have the benefit of other people looking out for you, praying for you, walking with you

b. You are not meant to do life alone or your walk with God alone

2. Sound System: Create a soundtrack for your life of praise and worship.

a. Sing and make melody in your heart to the Lord

b. Praise God in the storm and watch praise alter the atmosphere around it

c. When we praise God in heaven it changes circumstances on earth

d. Has your day ever been changed because you saw how happy someone was?

e. Do you impact people that way?

3. Solar System: See your whole life as part of a solar system

a. Recognize that you aren’t the sun

b. Your life needs to be in orbit around God

i. Stay connected to God daily

ii. Process the unexpected through God’s perspective

iii. Ask God courageously for help when you don’t have the answers

*I encourage you to start your soundtrack that will alter the atmosphere around you.

I will praise you in this storm, and I will lift my hands. For you are who you are, no matter where I am. And every tear I’ve cried, you hold in your hand. You never left my side. And though my heart is torn, I will praise you in this storm.

*This is our time to be antifragile and grow stronger. You ready?
